Problems deploying Adobe reader 9
UPDATE: Another sysadmin friend on twitter has tried deploying v9.1 as well and had the same issues. Sadly adobe do not list any contact details and you cannot contact them regarding the free reader.
In my new role as IT Manager, I have started to take advantage of the deployment tools built into active directory, this saves me time running around installing programs on the different computers but it also means I can keep a consistent set of apps installed. Eg Office 2007 compatibility pack or PowerPoint viewer.
However when I got to Adobe Reader 9.1 it would seem not everything is rosy. The install runs and the software does in fact work when started from its icon. However try and open a pdf from a website and it will tell you it cant.
After pulling my hair out and creating multiple different transform (.mst) files to try and get around the problem I have given up and decided to deploy 8.1.2 which works fine.
The msi is being deployed by a computer assigned GPO so that software is installed prior to login (as 95% of users are locked down) .
Adobe has a KB article here but none of their fixes seem to work, so i would be interested if anyone has had any success with getting this to deploy properly.
