iPhone GPRS / 3G / MMS / Voicemail Settings for all UK Networks

After getting a customer request today to help setup his unlocked iPhone I decided to put together a list of all the iPhone settings for each network to help anyone out there using factory unlocked or Ultrasn0w unlocked iPhones.

The list is formatted to match what you will see on your settings screen, which you can access by going to Settings->General Network->Cellular Data Network.

I also included the O2 settings (which are normally built into official UK devices) just in case anyone has managed to lose these. Lastly i have included details on setting up voicemail access.

All settings were correct at the time of writing but if you have any problems please leave a comment and I can update the list

Note: You must be running iPhone OS 3.0 or higher for MMS.

Setting up Voicemail

Setting up your voicemail is fairly straight forward.

1) Obtain your voicemail number from your network
2) Open up the phone screen and go into the dial pad
3) Dial in *5005*86*xxx# (Replacing xxx with your voicemail number, e.g. 121 for Vodafone)
4) Press call

You should now find that the voicemail button will now call your voicemail successfully from your iPhone.

Update:

Opps stupidly I omitted to include some credits for some of the information. Big thanks goes to @jamesbrobinson from About Here for the Vodafone MMS settings . Most of the settings were collected from lots of google searching and verifying and from my contacts at the various networks so a big thanks to them too!

why can't I send and receive emails on my o2 iphone? it use to work fine but recently it keeps saying 'the connection to the outgoing server "smtp.gmail.com" failed. Additional outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings:Mail, contacts and calendars.' I have tried all of these! please advice much appreciated :) ??
  • can you go into Settings->Mail Contacts & Calendars and into your gmail account, then into outgoing server, then click smtp.gmail.com which should be your primary server, this should tell you what settings it is using, can you post them here, apart from obviously the username and password! :)

What about incomming is that working?

Does internet work in safari? depends wether you may have a general problem or its just linked to gmail itself. If you post back some more info i'll see if i can help.

    Cheers

You'll need to make sure Virgin have MMS switched on on your account.

If you can give these a go and let me know how you get on, if they work i'll add them to the main post above.

Im really sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this, Been crazy busy at work latley (hence lack of updates on the blog) and by the time I get home i forget lol!.

    Cheers

Hello i just unlocked an iphone and i have put a 3 pay as you go sim card in and my signal keeps dropping, sometimes i get a few bars of signal then it will randomly drop to nothing. Is there anything i should put in the phones settings cheers.
  • Not really that I can think of. What unlock are you using and do you
know what baseband your phone is running?

Also have you tried any other pay and go sims to see if they have
    similar problems?
